A Guide on the Math Journey
By Koepp Education Group LLC · October 14, 2026
It's mid-October 2026, and being brand new to MyLearningSource I suppose an introductory blog is in order.
I'm Warren Koepp, and together with my wife of nearly 40 years we've started Koepp Education Group LLC with the goal of pursuing our love of teaching and working with students, while leaving the school bureaucracy behind. We are both native Texans and both of us have worked in many parts of our respective career fields. Over time we've developed experience-based beliefs about how to best help our clients achieve to their highest potential.
I'll focus this post on my primary interest and area of expertise, which is mathematics and math education. My interest in math has been because of the way it helps a person develop the parallel abilities to thing creatively and analytically. I studied math through three degrees not because of its utility, but because of its challenge and beauty. My whole formal education was formed around theoretical mathematics, culminating in a PhD (University of Wisconsin).
Early in my first job as a math professor (East Texas A&M University) I picked up the job no one else wanted, and started teaching the math foundations course for future elementary school teachers. That course transformed how I think about and teach math, and I went on to design and teach the elementary foundations course sequences at both Sul Ross State University and UT-Permian Basin. Of course I was still building experience teaching all the other stuff--Algebra, Precalculus, Calculus, Linear Algebra, and a lot of other courses that only math majors take.
Five years away from higher ed had me training working math teachers across West Texas as an Instructional Consultant at the regional ESC in Midland, and through grants I was able to expand this role when I returned to higher ed at UP-Permian Basin. In what many would call a step backward, I earned my Texas Educator Certificate in Secondary Math and left higher ed for good, starting fresh as a middle school, and then high school, math teacher. After doing that for nine years, we arrive at today and this new business.
Our goal, our passion, is to help students achieve a solid education. For my part, I know that many homeschool paren

ts hit a point where the math their kids are learning is outside of their own comfort zone. Through regular tutor sessions I can support your student no matter how far they go in math, helping them to make the math make sense. So far the tutoring I've done through Koepp Education Group has done exactly what I had hoped--it allows me to teach kids, see their eyes light up with new understanding, and not have to wade through all of the other non-teaching stuff that makes up so much of a teacher's life in school.
If math is a place your student needs help, reach out--I've made the journey many times and I can guide them along the path to confidence and mastery!
